Unit 3 Blog

Hi Professor and Class,
I chose to do my post today on:
Discuss how you feel about being an online student. Do you like the anonymity, flexibility, and self-directed style of the courses? Do you have ideas on ways to create a closer class community?
I can honestly say that I am very proud of myself to be an online student. I was not able to go to school in a classroom because of my hectic work schedule so I was grateful to be able to attend college online. I have many friends that are in school and have taken a couple online courses and said that it is very difficult to succeed in online courses. I do not agree with them at all. I think the only difference between online courses and in classroom courses is that you have to be very self disciplined to do online courses. I think that the way Kaplan University has these online courses set up is great. The seminars are great because it feels like you are in an actual classroom and I can actually take notes and ask questions as if I am in a classroom. I also like the discussion boards because it is another way to keep students learning about what exactly it is they are reading. I think Kaplan is a great school. The only ideas that I have to create a closer class community would be to have more seminars that were optional if students were confused and needed more one on one time with the teacher. Then a student would not have an excuse on why they didn't understand the lesson. Other than that I think the school is doing a great job for online classes and their students!

  1. Brittany I think you are right about online learning. I do believe that you have to be more discipline to attend an online school because most of the work is coming from your understanding of an hour seminar. We have a great more to deal with than a student that goes to school on ground.

I am proud that I attend Kaplan and I am looking forward to graduating and starting a real career.
