Unit 10 Blog

Hi Professor and Class, 
  I have decided to do my blog this week on:
     What advice would you now give to someone writing his/her first scientific paper? 
  
   The advice that I would give someone who was going to write their first scientific research paper is I would tell them to first make up their thesis statement/introductory paragraph so that they can come up with their 3 points that they will be discussing in their paper. Then once they do that instead of trying to write a paper as whole all at once, I would just focus on each individual paragraph that way you will be able to gather all facts for one topic at a time and have more to write about. I think when you focus on the paragraphs individually that you also focus more and make it sound a lot better than you would have trying to write all the paragraphs at the same time. I know that from my experience in writing my paper that was one thing that helped me write a great paper. I never thought I could do it, but it was a lot easier than I thought it would be and I am proud I accomplished it and it ended up turning out great. 

Unit 9 Blog

Hi Professor and Class,
 This week I have chosen to do my blog on:
    With your paper done or almost done, how do you feel

•         Do you feel nervous, accomplished, or just plain tired?

 I can honestly say that with my paper done now, I feel very proud of myself. When I first starting taking this class and the teacher mentioned writing an essay I got really nervous and didn't think that I would do well in this class at all. Once we started on our essays and started breaking up the paragraphs and focusing on each one individually, I realized that it was a lot easier on me. I honestly read my paper over and over again now and am very proud of myself on how it turned it out. I think I did a great job on my paper that I really didn't think would happen. I had no clue that I could actually write an essay, and it was so much easier to write an essay than I thought. I feel accomplished and know that I know can write an essay if I have to do it in another class. I will definitely be taking the techniques we used in this class with me for future classes. I found them very helpful. I am so thankful for taking this class. 

Unit 8 Blog

Hi Professor and Class, 
  I have decided to do my post this week on: 
Discuss any issues you have had throughout the process.


   The only issues that I can really think I have had with the blog throughout this course is when I first started the blog, for some reason  I could not sign in. It was so difficult to post something to my board every week because I could not get logged in so I would have to change my password repeatedly. Then once my password started working great, it was difficult to respond to classmates posts. Some would work out for me great, but others would not show up at all. I was really frustrated with that because I would want to respond to some classmates where I could relate to them but I couldn't. Now, things seems to be working out right for me. Overall, the blog was difficult to get a hang of at first but now that everything seems to be working right for me I am actually happy to be posting blogs and reading what other classmates have posted. 

Unit 7 Blog

Hi Professor and Class,
 I have decided to do my blog this week on:
   Is there anything that you have found shocking or intriguing in the process or your research?


  Yes, there are things that I have found shocking while doing my research paper. One thing that I found out about child obesity that was new to me was that child obesity has been found to be the second biggest killer in the world with over 400,000 deaths, compared to smokers which were 435,000 deaths. I think that child obesity just gets worse and worse over the years and that the parents aren't really trying to do anything to stop it. Instead, parents continue to buy their children more and more video games which makes their child never want to go outside and play real sports. Also, a child who is obese is often teased at school which causes them to have low self-esteem and eat more because of it. I found these things very shocking because I knew that child obesity was getting worse but I had no idea how bad it has actually got and what it actually does to the child mentally. Doing this research paper has helped me understand child obesity a lot more and I am actually glad I chose this to be my topic. It has became very interesting to me.

Unit 6 Blog

   I have decided to do my decision this week on:


    Share what you have personally been dealing with the last six weeks.


   In the last six weeks I have learned so much while taking the class. I am actually very amazed on how well I have done in this class and am proud of myself. I have learned how to actually write an essay the correct way. When I first started this class I was very nervous because I did not think I could write an essay that long. When the class actually started and I realized that we were basically working on the essay step by step it made it a lot of easier for me. I guess it is because I was able to focus on each individual paragraph by itself. I have really enjoyed this class, I feel like I have learned so much in these six weeks of class. I feel like I need to start believing in myself a lot more because I now realize that I can actually do things I feel like I cant. I really do enjoy this class, and am looking forward to reading everybody's final papers when they are done. There are so many great topics I want to read about. 
  

Unit 5 Blog

Hi Professor and Class,
 I decided to do my blog this week on:
        If there was one thing about your academic challenges, what would it be?


     If theere was one thing about my academic challenges, it would be trying to work and get all my homework turned in on time. Also, I have kept having trouble with financial aid blocking my classes due to non payment which is very difficult for me at this time as well. I have now failed two classes that I had A's in because they blocked my classes for so long that I was not able to turn in my final grades so it really upset me. I think that other then that, school is going pretty well for me. I have had trouble staying on top of turning in seminar option 2 questions due to working late and I am in a different time zone then others so I sometimes seem to get off of track. I am hoping that eventually it does not seem as stressful as it does now, but if not I will never give up. I have wanted to be in college for so long and never got around to it so now that I am actually in school I am very proud of myself. I want to finish school so that later in the future when I finally have kids they will want to go to college as well and try their best because they know that is what I had to do to be able to make my life better.

 Hi Professor and Class,
   I decided to respond to these following questions this week:
    Based upon your reading on plagiarism, why do you think we need to cite our sources?

•         What would you do if someone used something you created without giving you credit?

   

  While reading about plagiarism, I think that it is very important that we cite our sources because we are giving credit to the authors for their work. Plus I think that it is very important because if we do not cite our sources then if somebody asked where you might have gotten that information from you would not be able to tell them because you would probably not remember. 

 I think if someone had taken credit for some work that I have written I would be very upset. Knowing me, I would probably try to find a way to contact that person so that they would change it and give me credit for it. Or I might just post something to their website that shows where they got the information from which would be the website that I owned that way the person would think twice about doing it again. I know I would still feel very upset and hurt, and angry at the same time. I think its only fair that you give credit to the person that originally wrote the information.
